Historically, the Wabanaki people spent a lot of their time on the coast - the hulls of their canoes made very seaworthy for this reason. They also relied on their canoes as their main method of transportation, using the rivers and lakes to travel vast distances for purposes of trading and of building inter-tribal alliances.

At The Woodshop we set out to recreate a classic Wabanaki canoe inspired by the high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that was typical in the construction of a canoe of this sort.
